Welcome 2009
Salvete!
Welcome to Dr. Auanger’s webpage for Kecoughtan High School Latin students. Students of all levels of Latin (I, II, II, and IV) are encouraged to use and explore the resources, follow the news, and get academic information through this site. Watch for updates!
You can access homework, due dates, the official Latin Club web page, and more through the resources below.
Please note that I am currently rearranging the site, so some things are rather out of order.
For your convenience:
- A syllabus for each level can now be found among the documents under the resources link.
- Guidelines for the t-shirt design contest can be found among the documents under the resources link.
- Information about the Classical Leagues can be found at www.njcl.org and www.vjcl.org.
The Latin Club page can now be found at www.kecoughtanlatin.tumblr.com.

Attention new Latin 4 students: Head start to the 2009-2010 school year
For anyone wanting to get a headstart for next year and who likes to read, I recommend getting a hold of a copy of Vergil’s Aeneid. The most comprehensible and reader-friendly version that I am aware of is Vergil’s Aeneid: Hero, War, Humanity translated by G.B. Cobbold. It can be ordered through amazon.com or Barnes and Noble, or www.bolchazy.com. (I am planning to make this available for you to buy next year, but getting and reading it now would be a great use of summer time.)
I hope you all are having a wonderful summer.

Learn words and feed the hungry!
This is a great way to practice your SAT vocabulary and also help the hungry! I learned about it through a group of Latin teachers. Dr. A.

Listen to Latin (and Greek) via Princeton University
This is a great way to improve your pronunciation and familiarity with the language, even if the texts are upper level. (Don’t panic that you do not yet understand it!)
